While medical colleges are often seen as places of rigorous academic indulgence and clinical affiliations , they are also hubs of diverse cultures and backgrounds. One way in which this tradition and diversity is celebrated and cherished is through conduct of Cultural programs at various occasions . Armed Forces Medical College endorses this statement strongly; since the beginning of AFMC’s journey by baby steps, there had been vibrant Cultural programs at various occasions in its premises ,conducted initially by combined efforts of cadets and instructors later by a reformed club, AFMC Cultural Club.
AFMC Cultural Club was founded by a group of forward-thinking medical cadets of AFMC 13, who recognized the importance of cultural awareness in the field of medicine and the need for an organised community for better conduct of events.
The club was formed and activities started, conducting intra afmc cultural programs and competitions, and weaving a community of talented cadets.
Gradually our club activities learned to step outside our premises, and in the year 2019 our club matured so well, that a team lead by AFMC 18 brought home the coveted BUP Inter University Cultural Fest Stage Drama competition’s Championship !
History repeat itself again in 2022 lead by AFMC 21 this time: Championship in Stage Drama Competition of BUP Lit Fest 6.0.
Like every other year since the establishment of this college, cultural week was held for the year 2023 too; AFMC Cultural club organised and arranged for the most engaging and entertaining events of the season, this time scheduled at night, our galleries were packed with audience , vibing to the stage performances.
The events for the week were:

Not only this, this season our club allotted itself a corner to pay a tribute to the contributors of the culture we know and the cultural club we know- “Cultural Club Reminisce”. The volunteers of this season earnestly worked hard to decorate our tea room into an open stage at a fair, comprising a stage with music instruments under a banyan tree , bioscope, puppet dance, the iconic ‘Murir Tin’ etc along with our wall magazine, which was a one of a kind addition by AFMC Cultural Club to the festivities of AFMC Medi carnival Season 8

Photography club
They say a picture speaks louder than words.
With just that in mind, AFMC Photography Club came to life in 2015. Immediately, they jumped into action and arranged the first ever photography exhibition, and since then, they have never looked back.
In line with their work so far, this year's photography exhibition captivated all involved, whether as volunteers immersed in preparations or as visitors stunned by excellence. The curated collection of photographs showcased an extraordinary range of artistic talent, capturing moments of realism. Each provided a window into the photographer's unique perspective, offering a profound visual journey. What truly stood out was the diversity of styles and subjects, from breathtaking landscapes to thought-provoking portraits and abstract compositions. It was a testament to the boundless creativity of photographers and their ability to convey messages and emotions through their lens.
Of course, it was only possible because of the behind-the-scenes efforts of the photography club members that contributed to the exhibition's success. Not only did they work hard in putting up the pieces, they also dedicated themselves to coming up with decorations that only complemented the works on display.
Each corner told a different story, much like the photographs did. With the variety present, it almost felt like each turn created a portal to a whole other world, but all still within the confines of the four walls.
In one part, an entire wall was dedicated to medical themed doodles, as if to shed a light on just some tidbits of the norm here, and truly highlight the saying, "Losing my life to save yours."
And what is life, if not a collection of a multitude of other experiences as well? Whether it be at awe of the homage to Van Gogh's Starry Night, as a representation of the achievements of the members till date, or a tribute to shows like Friends and Game of Thrones, for a shared moment of nostalgia over the good times spent together, the entire set up created something larger than just the exhibition, made even more complete with a cup of tea from the stall and cotton candy from the stand.
So with all that magic in every step of the way, it would be only fair to say that even now, after it all ended, the imprints left behind by the photography exhibition continue to enchant, way more than a thousand words.
AFMC CARNIVAL CLUB
All throughout the week, and in the weeks before it, everybody prayed for there to be no rain. In fact, with every little sign of rain, whether it be the
slightest rumbling of the black clouds, or the falling of the smallest water droplet, everybody ran around. Not to shield themselves, no, but to
protect all that they worked for so long. But on the very last day, it was finally time to let loose and embrace the rain instead, and with it, the final splatter of a plethora of colors that
embellished all for one last time for the season. And thus concluded AFMC Medi Carnival Season VIII.
So just to take a look back, let's rewind to where it started. It all started in 2015, when the initiative was taken for the first ever
carnival. And once it did, there was no looking back, as it continued up to this point in time, for season viii.
In true wordplay fashion, the number 8, corresponding to the season of this carnival, was rotated sidewise to come up with this time's motto,
"Together for Eternity."Set to run for the usual span of a week, preparations began even before the actual week was fixed. They began the moment carnival came up in
casual conversations, and then gradually in official talks with authorities. Once the date was saved, the only thing left to do was to jump into action.
With an initial idea in mind, AFMC Carnival Club started work. On one hand, budgeting meetings were held on multiple occasions
followed by shopping trips to the market, while on the other hand, brainstorming sessions went on to finalize details of the various events.
Of which six were arranged by the carnival club - doctor's dilemma, medi spelling, medi presentation, medi poster, medi cartoon and treasure hunt.
Two workshops were also held - one on medicine, another on surgery. With spontaneous participation from every cadet, all turned out to be
massive successes. While the witty ones battled it out in the galleries, the imaginative ones let their creations speak for them, as showcased in the balconies.
Of course, the ones with a taste for adventure got to have a hint of just the thing when they ran around the campus, solving clues to find their
treasures. And what a campus they ran through! Covered in splendid decorations that the carnival club members put together within just a few days and some sleepless nights, the crowd could merely stare in awe at the sight of it all. It was wonderful from the very first moment of entrance through the bohemian themed gate. And it continued to be wonderful, with the fond memories of different games and the aesthetic references of pop culture along the way. As if to truly complete it all, there was also a memory wall, that allowed teachers, cadets - both ex and current, to write about the carnival of this year, and also reminisce about the carnivals of the past. and really, what an experience it has been, to celebrate carnivals through all these years, and to hopefully continue for a long, long time to come.
